Key Features of the SPS Instruments
The sorption analysis systems of the SPS series are fully automated multi-sample systems for gravimetric water vapor sorption. The SPS series combines easy operation with a robust design to deliver reliable, highly sensitive measurements. With a range of unique features, the SPS systems clearly stand out from conventional single-sample instruments.

High Precision and Easy Sample Handling
The multi-sample capability of the SPS enables the analysis of up to 23 samples in a single measurement. The sample dishes are arranged in a circle on a sample tray. An autosampler continuously places the samples one after the other on the balance for weighing. Additional Sensors like Raman or Camera are contributing their data software controlled during the measurement.

Advanced Balance Technology
Their top loading function utilizes reliable multisample handling and easy accessibility.
- Long Term Stability of the Balance
An internal reference compensates any drift of the micro balance and thus providing excellent balance stability even for long term measurements (>> 24h).
- Wide Dynamic Load Range
The dynamic weighing range of the micro and ultramicro balances allows the full range of sample weights from min weight to max load without any adjustments or counterweights. The individual samples used in a measurement can completely differentiate in mass.
- Excellent Gravimetric Resolution
The micro and ultramicro balances of the SPS series are available with a gravimetric resolution ranging from 100 ng to 10 µg. The requirements for the precision and resolution of the balance as well as the required balance load range are set by the size, mass and expected water uptake of the samples to be analysed. Small amounts of powder with low sorption capability require a high resolution and excellent repeatability for the acquisition of high value measurement data. For large, bulky and heavy samples, a balance with a high load range is required. For some applications a combination of an extended load range and high resolution is required.

Wide Temperature and Humidity Range
For many applications, the sorption behaviour of materials at temperatures and climatic condtions far from room conditions is of interest. The wide temperature range of the SPS enables to conduct vapor sorption analysis at extreme conditions from cool 5 °C to hot 60 °C. Relative humidity can be precisely set and adjusted over the whole range from completely dry 0 % up to 98 % RH close to condensation.

Calibration and Validation
- Gravimetric Calibration
The micro or ultramicro balance is easily calibrated with an automated routine using internal reference weights.
- Humidity Validation
Calibration of the humidity sensor is accomplished by using salt standards. For a frequent and quick validation of the humidity calibration, proUmid provides a certified reference material.
* The full humidity range can only be achieved at a chamber temperature slightly above room temperature.
** Root mean square. The specified values assume that the system is installed in an environment suitable for the operation of micro- or submicrobalances.
