Key Features of the Vsorp Instruments

The Vsorp series Vapor Sorption Analyzers are fully automated multi-sample instruments designed for gravimetric water vapor sorption analysis. They enable precise determination of both sorption isotherms and sorption kinetics across an extended ambient temperature range and the full relative humidity spectrum. The Vsorp systems combine intuitive operation with a robust design, ensuring reliable measurements while maintaining high sensitivity.

Optimized Temperature Range

In most typical application areas such as food research or the analysis of sorption properties in chemical substances measurements are commonly carried out at or near room temperature. Often it is not required to measure at very high or low temperatures. The Vsorp moisture sorption analyser is specifically designed to deliver optimal performance and stability within the temperature range of 15 °C to 40 °C.

Balance Resolution

The requirements for the precision and resolution of the balance as well as the required balance load range are set by the size, mass and expected water uptake of the samples to be analysed. Small amounts of powder with low sorption capability require a high resolution and excellent repeatability for the acquisition of high value measurement data. For large, bulky and heavy samples, a balance with a high load range is required. For some applications a combination of an extended load range and high resolution is required.

The models of the Vsorp series are available with a balance resolution of 1 µg, 10 µg or 100 µg. The same proven and reliable top-loading balance technology used in the Vapor Sorption Analyzer SPS is employed here, meeting the high standards for reproducibility, stability, and drift compensation.

Multi-Sample Capability

Sample trays can be selected to match the size and number of samples for each measurement. Swapping trays takes only a few seconds. With a wide selection of available sample dishes, the system can handle everything from tiny powder samples to large, bulky materials like packaging, as well as heavy samples such as wood or concrete.

Low Cost of Ownership

By combining proven components with advanced design, the Vsorp model series combines high reliability with minimal maintenance and low operating costs. Smooth interior surfaces allow for easy and quick cleaning of the system. Apart from occasional refilling and cleaning of the water tank, the devices are virtually maintenance-free.

The Vsorp model series is available in three versions: Vsorp Basic, Vsorp Plus, and Vsorp Enhanced.  The models differ in terms of the resolution of the microbalance, the number of samples that can be measured simultaneously, and the maximum sample size. The various models with their different technical specifications make it possible to select a system that is precisely tailored to the application, thereby achieving an optimal cost-benefit ratio.

Calibration of the balance is done by an automated internal calibration routine. For humidity validation, proUmid offers a certified reference material that enables the execution of a validation routine in parallel to a running measurement.
